Psychosynthesis

Jay Ray

My name is Sparrowhawk, otherwise known as Jay Ray. I came to Dunedin from Sydney where I practiced as a Psychosynthesis Guide for 12 years and prior to that as a hypnotherapist... Coming to live in Dunedin was a huge and powerful personal choice. While here on holidays I was struck by surges of dejavu that refused to stop even after I returned to Australia. So I felt that I was being called to move to this beautiful peninsula. At that stage I had no idea what would unfold. Psychosynthesis has been a very integral part of my own evolution, psychologically and spiritually. It was not, and will not ever be something that I could fold up and put away, so I started a small practice here. At that time few people here, seemed aware of therapy as a means to spiritual development, and the going was slow. It seemed that if I wanted to continue to do my work, I was going to have to teach people what Psychosynthesis was about and what it had to offer. So thats what I did! In 1999, I developed and commenced a three-year psychosynthesis training course. It was intense self growth and very successful, but after facilitating for several years, I felt it was time to aloow the next stage of my evolution to unfold. I closed the Training Centre to allow myself some space to see what needed to happen next. Out of that space, two books have grown:one (The Way Through- A Guide to Psychosynthesis in Everyday Life", an outflowing from the Psychosynthesis course development, and the other "Reweaving the Web- A Journey of Shamanic Connection" from my Shamanic teaching, something that began decades ago in a Suffolk field, and has been developing strongly ever since.

Currently I have undergone the Munay Ki initiatory rites with Billie Dean in Australia, a fascinating process. I shall be offering the rites here in New Zealand from early 2009 onwards, once the rites have had time to make the changes that they need to inside of me, preparing me for the task of initiating others.

Last year I was given a challenge by a member of the local indigenious community to 'ground the Pakeha' (white non-indigenious New Zealanders). That has led me on a wonderful journey seeking the ways that we of the West most need to be grounded in. The challenge fit very neatly into my own search for my own deep ancestors. During my search I have come to understand what we have lost is the contact with and knowledge of, our ancestral roots. This has made a deep impact on us as a people, and informed the road we have travelled on to our detriment. Now I see my job as helping those of us of European ancestory to reconnect. In so doing, I believe we will become 'indigenious' again: connected to our own tap-root that speaks to us from our DNA, connecting us back to spirit of land and indeed all things.

Next year is the year I also take the "Reweaving Intensive" on the road, looking at these issues, what consequence this has brought about in todays world, and how we can begin the reconnection process. In so doing we come to know ourselves, and bring healing to our relationship with other races, other beings and the Earth herself, on this amazing planet.

If you would like any information about any of this,or would like an idividual session,as I am now practicing from the Carnegie Centre in Dunedin, please email me on sparrowhawk@spiritflight.co.nz

The session work that I do is psycho-shamanic. That is, all work takes place in sacred space with emphasis on healing coming from within the person's spiritual field: with Higher Self, ancestral or power animal assistance. Sessions are 90 minutes in duration and cost is $75nz.
