Put very simply, Psychosynthesis for me is about balance. Balance within [our internal world] which in turn may enable balance without [our external world].
And in seeking this balance, experiencing the unfolding knowledge and awareness of our own unique ‘self’.
The dawning of the new millennium saw me searching for this balance and knowledge. Seeking answers for persistent questions raised in the turmoil of the preceding days, months and years of my life.
Questions such as: why do I respond to others in this way? How come this keeps happening to me? Who am I anyway?
My long Nursing career had taught me well about caring for others, but hadn’t equipped me with the skills to care for myself.
As the ‘teacher appears when we are ready to learn’ - I learned of Jay Ray’s course in Personal Development using the Psychosynthesis model as a base and was attracted to its philosophy of self responsibility, balance and acknowledgement of the spiritual along with the body, mind and emotions.
I completed her three year Transpersonal Therapies Practitioner Training Course in December 2002. This three year period was a time of great learning and increased awareness of my ‘unique self’, my personality through its many ‘sub personalities’ and patterns of behaviour that were closely linked to what I believed about myself and others around me. Looking deep inside and bringing what was really going on to the surface to look at and gain understanding from.
The second and third year also incorporated the skills required to work with others in a therapeutic way, both individually and in group workshop formats.
Towards the end of this course I moved from my home town of Dunedin to a more rural setting outside Gore in Eastern Southland. During my time there I was able to build experience in working therapeutically with people on a one to one basis as well as facilitating self development courses for groups using principles of Psychosynthesis as a basis.
Now once again it is time for change. I will move with my partner Richard to the Motueka area at the top of the South Island on 1st June 2007. I look forward to greater opportunities for family time with my adult children and their families in Nelson, as well as the new opportunities for work, growth and learning that may present as a result of this new environment and community.
If you are based in this part of the country/ world, have an interest in self growth, would like to work through some personal issues or are part of a group seeking personal growth training, please feel free to contact me for a chat.
